About the walk
From the White horse Pub we go in a westerly direction following a route at the base of Doddick Fell until we reach the old lead mine workings here we make our ascent of Halls Fell ridge to the summit of Blencathra.
After a short stop we descend to the east. We drop down to Scales Tarn before re-climbing along the famous Sharp Edge ridge, a short rocky arête with steep drops on either side. We make our way along this ridge to climb steeply at the far end over Foule Crag, this brings us back onto the summit ridge.
From here we travel down the Atkinson pike and head in a Northerly direction then proceed up to Bannerdale Crags. Turning back on ourselves for a short distance we then descend through the valley between Scales fell and White Horse Bent finishing in Mousthwaite Comb then turn westerly down the small lane for a short distance which brings us back to the start point
